How can I get the story’s original creative about

 

I like to read after school hours, in particular Books on philosophy, history and literature. In all of the books I have read, one book deeply affected me, it’s named <<Chuangcius>>, it written by Chuangcius in about 2300 years ago. 

In that era, China was in Feudal society, and in the time of Chuangcius life, Central Government was incompetence, lead to Warlordism and social unrest. But in that time, a number of thinkers were emerged, like Mencius, Laocius and Confucius. Their books have far-reaching in China, it is the experience of our forefathers, however, it is correct in many cases even today.

In that era, almost all of the writings were Quotations. <<Chuangcius>> is the first Prose writings in China, quite different from other books. <<Chuangcius>> has Beautiful diction. In addition to diction, <<Chuangcius>> is contains deep philosophical. It summarized the law of the development of things and the relationship between human beings, could give a great inspiration for people now.

Although we can read the English <<Chuangcius>> now, but I can’t believe English <<Chuangcius>> could reflected it’s the essence of the original, just like I don’t Chinese <<Romeo and Juliet>>. English <<Chuangcius>> more like Fairy Tales Fables but not philosophy book.

Chuangcius believe Things in the world is relative, not absolute. Awareness of things will change under certain conditions. Like beautiful and ugly, right and wrong.

 

I am inspired by this thinking. In more than 1000 years ago China was in Tang Dynasty, Plump girls was considered the most beautiful, but now, most people like slim girls. In cause of lots of girls manage to find ways to lose weight, although most of them have normal weight. A small number of girl was inferiority because their body weight. Gradually, they was become Self-enclosed, do not like to come into contact with people, even have psychological problems. What makes them like this, the pressure comes from nowadays public opinion. But is the opinion right?  We just can say, most of people think so now, but the Chinese people in Tang Dynasty will not agree with that. So it doesn’t have the absolute response.

 

I want to look at these issues with center point, and express this thinking in my films. In this point, a book took me ideas. It was written by a Swedish writer named Anna Marie Ihlau, talk about a cat travel all the world. Its perspective and view was quite different from people, but always Objective and does not contain a utilitarian, it was what I want. It is quite interesting.

Than I write the story about a Plump girls and her pet cat. The cat is the narrator of the story, it looks at its owner and other people, and talk out all kinds of contradictions and unreasonable in human society. I tell the story to my partners. Everyone was interested in this story. Then we used a lot of time to improve this story. And at last we had the solo screenplay

ost-editing was my most important work, also I used lots of time on it.

It isn’t easy work, because there was lots unedited material, including empty scene and main scene, some of them were wonderful, we can used them in our movie. Some of them were useless. But most of them I can’t define used or not before compare each similar repeat scene. Most of time I can define which one was better, but some times I have to thinking again even ask other members for comment, although such cases would be very rare.

Log and shooting script were very useful when I done editing. Log always record the best scene, it was reduce my workload, and shorten the working hours. But some times maybe the scene which record in log was not the best, so you can’t overlook each scene you shoot.

Shooting script is the movie’s core. Also it is the refinement of film. We need change language text into the camera language before shoot. Shooting script is record the camera language. So, the shooting script directive me how to edit the film. Fortunately, the shooting script’s write was experienced. He is the director of our film and good at shooting, so our shooting script is detailed, although not good at drawing. It is very easy to understand all process of the story for, and which lens I need to select. According to the structure of the Shooting script, editing is easily.

As the same has been said before in the research, the opening and ending of the film is fast-paced, we get the ideas from The Devil Wears Prada (2005). Rapid shear lens and with the fast-paced music, mobilize the enthusiasm of the audiences. But in the main part of the film, we slow down the pace. Because the content of our story is abstruse, we have to use dialogue and voice-over account of the story. We have to accept our story have little hard to understand. But it is profound and meaningful, quite different from other student works. I am sure it is a good story.

2009 April 18th is the last day we shooting in plan, we must complete shooting today because two of our members will gone to America the day after tomorrow. But the shooting is very difficult today, we have to shoot in car, and we needed use live cats. None in our group have the experience keep cat, so it is a challenge for us.

The shooting begin in a bedroom, the biggest problem is light because we need create a dark environment, only curtains was not enough. We used board and quilt block light, make us been in darkness. Through the communication, we successful completed the shooting indoor. At the same time, the actress had a cold, and now was more and more serious. We propose her have a rest, but she decided to hold on shoot. We are very impressed.

After the camera man and actress complete the shoot in the car. We gone to the public park together, it’s really a nice place, but really cold. We all worried about the actress, she was staunch than we thought, held on act in the wind.

The last scene shoot in the city center, the actress needed act with the cat. Fortunately, the cat was tame, did not give us trouble, but it was to cold to make the cat continuous shaking. We worry about it will fall ill, even diet. So when we finish shoot, we return it to its owner immediately. I understand that the cat was very healthy now.

When we finish shooting, we have a dinner together. But that did not mean we had finish all of work, we still have do lots of Post-production. But there days, we are really tired, we need have a rest, and continue work two days after.

2009 April 17^th was the second day we shooting, also is the busiest day until I come to The UK. Because of lease period of the camera and other equipment is finite, and actors and place was booked in there days, so we have to finish shoot on time. Although we are already complete our shooting script, but shooting still like participate in the war, not only very busy, also full with surprises and unexpected.

The beginning of the shooting was not very favorably, it done in the interior. We have to adapt different machine, and the biggest problem was record sound. External microphone can pick sound well, we had to use additional microphone. Fortunately, when we edited material, we felt audio have a good effect.

But at the beginning the actress was not adapted to, she could not felt the character’s emotional in the film. The director and scriptwriter exchange their ideas with character, scriptwriter explained his opinion, at the same time according to the views of actors change some points in the script. After that we finish the shooting morning, came to city center after lunch.

At afternoon, we had arranged two famous street singers in Coventry, we need them carried out with us. It is surprisingly for us them were dress up. Their nice songs attracted lots people, we had to shoot in crowd, but it make scene looks more authentic. In the end of shooing we accept give them a film copy.

When finish all of these above we were gone to book the venues where we shoot tomorrow, it is a night bar. Unfortunately the boss was enjoy his Easter, can’t open his bar for us. We are very frustrated because it is not easy to book a bar for shooting, and we have to complete shooting there days. There is an old saying “after rain comes the sunshine”. It’s the experience of our forefathers, however, it is correct in many cases even today. One of our members proposed us maybe we can shoot in the bar where he part-time in. we gone there, the manager permit us shoot in there, but just today, the most important thing is it is free. Immediately, we drum up all of actor and shoot, when we finish it, it is almost 11 o’clock in the night.

When I back home I can’t wish and go asleep, I need to edit the material we shoot today. It cost me nearly 2 hours, and I aware I need do more exercise to improve my work efficiency. Though day’s work make me tired, but I am happy to the effect we shooting.

2009 April 15^th was the first day our team shooting, everyone felt excited and nervous. We have done long time project and research. In this process, we have met lots of trouble, like dispute and despair. We always have to give up the project we have considered a long time, in cause of some members leaved our group. At last, we finish the final shooting script. We can see the dawn of victory, although we can’t know the final effect, but everyone will enjoy the process of shooting.

Tasks of today’s shooting were relaxed and pleasant, we just look for some beautiful places and shoot some scenes, it used for opening and scenes change. And we have to control performance of the camera we lease before official shoot. First, we shoot in city center, the target is passers lovers and vehicles. At first everything was smoothness, but nearly we finish shooting CV1 public securities discourage us. They found us by CCTV and told us we need permission if we want shoot in CV1. Fortunately, they allow us finish the shooting today and apply it when we go home.

After that we started shoot in suburb, it’s free like journey and we enjoy it. We shoot everything look nice. We sure most of them can be used in our film.

There is an old saying Happy time is always short-lived，it is correct in many cases even like today. When we finish shooting it is the time to have dinner, we eat together, summarized the shooting today and discussed the shooting project tomorrow. We known the mission tomorrow unlike today, we have to draw up comprehensive plan. And then everyone back home.

When I back home I need calculate cost and edit the material we shoot today. Budgets have been control. But it is disappointing some scene was over-exposure. I contact with the camera man told him this point. Fortunately, most of them looks wonderful and could be used in film. Everything made me looking forward to tomorrow.

People’s opinions about dream vary from person to person. In more than 2000 years ago, there was a Chinese philosopher named Zhuang Zi. He dream he was be a butterfly, when he waked up, he ask himself, is he dreamed butterfly or the butterfly dreamed him? Most people believe dream is the extension of our thinking, it reflect our mind and wish. So sometimes someone will confused by the dream, can not distinguish between dream and reality. The protagonist in our film is one of them.

She doesn’t have friend. Lack of interpersonal communication is the most serious problem in her life. She was closed and suppressed. She hoped someone could attend her. And then she secret love her colleague and hope him went into her private life, but the inferiority and shy lead her can’t express love to her colleague. Long-term pressure lead her become a bit nervous, and fancy this guy be her boyfriend life with her. She indulged her fantasy, because that could content her desire. There is an old saying self-deceiving, however，it is correct in many cases like this point.

This idea looks alternative, but it was used in some books and films. Just like a very famous but been controversial film – Fight Club.

Fight Club is alternative Hollywood film. It is bloody, violent and been controversial until today. But when you watch all of the film you have to the praise Scriptwriter is genius. Lou is an officer, he repeated his work like copy paper, and earn rewards to buy furniture in IKEA. He enthusiastic about it, not only it is the purpose for his work, but it also is all of his life. But everything was changed when he met Tyler Durden, a man who passion, violent and full of ideals. Tyler Durden done everything Lou Want to but dares to do, still Tyler Durden done over and Lou aware he must Stop Tyler. Through series survey, it is amazing that Tyler Durden is Lou. And than Lou have to fight with himself and stop his crazy damage.

Most of people like this movie because there is a Tyler Durden in our hearts, we want emancipate ourselves, do everything we want to. But in reality, we have to be Lou, Mechanical repetition of our work. Because of the things we own end up owning us. We are not willing to that but have to. We are Tyler Durden also Lou, and always we can not distinguish who we are now.

When you have insomnia, you’re never really asleep and you’re never really awake. The protagonist in our film can not distinguish dream and reality, the guy is her lover or not. But the reality is cruelty, gradually she recognizing that reality is farther and farther away from his dream. She was very desperate, but she aware she have to Face the reality. At last, she succeeded. She was changed the image of her own, build up self-confidence. And be a Health and Beauty girl.

Modeling and dressing is very important in a film. Role modeling will embody its character and state.

Can you believe there pictures from the same actor in one film. It sounds crazy but is the truth. The actor is Hollywood stars Brad Pitt, there Modeling from a hot film last year – The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

In 2008, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button has become a hot topic among people，especially among my friends and heated debates are right on their way.

Just like the hummingbird, the only bird which can go backwards when it flight, Benjamin Button is a special man who backwards growing in the word, it is doomed him will owned different life with, he just like a 80 years old guy when he was born, it was contradictory in his childhood because he has a young heart and doddery face, so we can see Singular Scene like a old man play toy, in the house no one aware his different except heroine Daisy, it’s also doomed Their fate will be intertwined with.

Special people with special life, it has both fortunate and unfortunate. Benjamin Button can experience a different life, but the different life is the source of his pain. He had to leave his favorite because his different. His helplessness and painful ending make viewers feel bitter.

The scene about heroine suffered a car accident use special shooting, Reality and assumptions describes at the same time methods, make viewers feel fresh. This is the highlight of the entire movie.

Benjamin believes people never know what’s coming for you. Everything is possible, it is famous lines in the film, people can find the similar views in a more famous classic film – “Life was like a box of chocolate, you never know what you’re gonna get in the Forrest Gump. These two films have many Similarities, for example, they are about someone’s memories in most of film and all of both films have two different outlooks on life, one is everything is possible, another is fatalism, someone believe destiny, just like Daisy and Forrest Gump’ leader in Vietnam war. Everything has two side，it has both advantages and disadvantages. Similar plots make people little disappointed but also lead to people compare two films. Forrest Gump focus on the American history, it’s feeling more magnificence, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button focus on the Benjamin Button’s different life and different people he met, The story described in more detail. I am sure Forrest Gump has higher evaluation than The Curious Case of Benjamin Button in the most people, but it’s not equal everyone like Forrest Gump more than The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. The novel ideas in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button are Successful, this is sufficient

It is worth mentioning the makeup in this film. At first, the exquisite make-up cause of people hard to believe the protagonist of the story played by Famous Brad Pitt. So deserved, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button won the 81^st Oscar for best makeup awards.

Nowadays, in the process of film production makeup not only traditional way, but it also used computer technology like CG. Traditional makeup could alter face lead him look old or young, but CG technology change body, like make tall Brad Pitt look like a rickets old man. But everything has two sides and CG technology is not an exception, it has both advantages and disadvantages. People’s opinions about CG technology vary from person to person. Some people say that CG technology improves film production. On the contrary, there are some people not in favor of CG technology. At the same time, they say CG technology is not conducive to play acting. It is obvious conservative Oscar judges support second Perspective, it is one of the reasons Brad Pitt haven’s depend The Curious Case of Benjamin Button own Oscar Best Actor Award.

We have attached great importance to Modeling, dressing and makeup. In the beginning of our film, the protagonist in our film is a girl who is shy inferiority and have a bit nervous. Her modeling and dressing is Outdated, and look a bit Bloated. We make up for her make her face look pale just like lost soul. In the end of the film, she breaks away hallucination, through changing the image of her own build up self-confidence. She dressed in fashionable and heavy makeup.

Except these, according to the different dressing and makeup, the actress had to show the feeling of confidence. And show big different image with before. Fortunately, we invite a profession actress, because it is hard for an amateur actor, always we just can found amateur actor in university. And thought detailed communication and repeated exercise, the result is wonderful, achieve expected effect.

There are different opinions among people as to which one is the most important part in a film, but most people suggest that the opening is very important. Good opening will attract viewers and make them concern circumstances after. So we should take a series of effective measures to make sure the quality of opening.

  The protagonist in our film is a lonely girl. She has no friends, lack of interpersonal communication is the most serious problem in her life. She secret love her colleague and hope him went into her private life, but the inferiority and shy lead her can’t express love to her colleague. Long-term pressure lead her become a bit nervous, and fancy her colleague be her boyfriend life with her. Because our work is a short movie, so we have to explain all of the background and living conditions of the protagonist in the beginning of the film, requirement is brief but brilliant. Confronted with the opening, we have taken a series of effective measures to improve it. At last we get ideas from a famous film- The Devil Wears Prada (2005).

 

 The Devil Wears Prada (2005) is an American comedy. The story talk about an young graduate -  Andrea　Sachs into a top fashion magazine《Runway》, be the assistant of Editor-in-Chief. The Editor-in-Chief Miranda Priestly, The devil who wears Prada left a deep impression for viewers. Particularly her first appear on the scene, could be classical plot. There is an old saying in my hometown, “Lightning and dark clouds before heavy rain.” In that plot, we can feel atmosphere of hectic and tense in the office when The Editor-in-Chief Miranda Priestly will be in the there. Through depict other employees express her character and Status. This method will used in our opening.

 

In our opening, we can watch such a girl. She hopes some people call him, but when the mobile phone rang, the sound is from other people’s phone, her call history is empty. She meets her classmates on the road and say hello to them, but them ignored her. Lovers embracing in the streets, she eats hamburgers lonely. She is kind- hearted, doing good things but no one noticed. All of this point explains her situation, and then mix in music and animation, make it has sense of rhythm and looks more fashion. When we complete all of the film, everyone in our term approve the opening is the most successful part of the film.

 

In the end of the film, protagonist – the lonely girl overcome its own and break away hallucination, through changing the image of her own build up self-confidence, at the same time out of dependent feeling on the boy, who her secret love. In the production process, we have adopted the same Practices with the opening. This is happy ending, though tragedy can be borne in mind, but We Still hope to bring happiness for viewers.

Compromise to the reality
We hope everything goes our way, but most of time we have to compromise to the reality. There are some many creative ideas in our final project, but at last we just can used a little of them. That let us frustrated, but we have no way out. Everything has two sides and this situation is not an exception，it has both advantages and disadvantages. For one thing, we have to give up the old ideas. For another, we create some new ideas.
The big problem we have faced is the shooting perspective, used the animal perspective is more difficult than we thought before. Why? The first reason is that simulate animal walking and looking need profession technology and device, them are very expensive for rental and hard to operate. One of our classmates even done the device himself, but the result is unsatisfactory. The second reason is that it hard to express lens language if we full shooting used animal perspective. The third reason is that we can’t guarantee effect, this is a new shooting method, we can’t sure it will success and viewers will like it. The last reason is that from me, the producer and editor in this film, I must sure the lens we shot is useful and the film is brilliant. So at last we have to use the traditional shooting perspective.
The cat not only is an important prop, but it also is a role in our film. In most of time, we can not control a live cat’s action. We hope create a CG cat that is a good method but we are not profession Hollywood production team, so we have to use a live cat at last. We only shoot some static state, and set some main perspective of it. This idea is from a famous and classic film-JAWS(1974). In the process of shooting, the production team can provide realistic model jaw, and CG technology is not developed in that days. Then Steven Spielberg got a Genius idea, use Camera Lens instead the jaw’s eyes, so we can not watch too many lens shoot the law’s body, because most of the lens about law are jaw perspective. This idea not only solved the problem of model jaw, but also create an atmosphere of horror and tension, just like be gazed by the jaw. That is one of the reasons for the success of Jaw.
Another problem is the actor. The actor must comply with four factors. First, she has in line with the character in our script. Second, she must good at acting. Third, for budgetary considerations, she can’t get too much repayment. And last, can be a very good exchange and communicate with us. We are very hope that we can use a The UK local actor, but communication will be a big problem, it will influence the effect of the film and increase the difficult of shooting, so we invite a Chinese protagonist girl starring our film. Fortunately, she is a profession actor, she have studied 8 years performance and love performance very much. At last, she not only completed an excellent performance, but she also did not receive any remuneration.
How to express our ideas and thinking is another problem. Western and Eastern have different mind, we have to meet the Westerners point of view because our film is scored by western lecturers. That is very different for us who are new here and lack of understanding of Western culture. At last, we just can watch some western films and books, and communicate with The UK students and lecturers. But when we complete our film, we also can’t sure the western views can understand the meaning of our film. We just can sure the wonderful lens and scene is success, I hope this can help us get a good mark.
The last problem is language. Our protagonist, the Chinese girl could speck English fluent, but speck English is bad for her express feeling and input state, we need natural performance not deliberately performing, so we decide using Chinese in our film and add subtitle in English. We considered use post-dubbing, but we lack the technology and professional voice-over actors.

Research on final project

At the beginning of our research, I have watched an animation named the Fly. It is the Oscar’s Best Animated Short Film in 1981. The producer used the fly’s view in the video, I interesting about it, so I hope to product a similar one.

 I research a number of animal’s view, like horse, monkey, bird, snake and insects, at last I choose the cat’s view

The first cat’s view is quite similar with humans’.

And the second cats living in the human world, it’s the advantage for us to show the human’s life by the cat’s eyes.

Why we choose cat not dog. We feel the cat more mysterious than dog. Cat has night vision, we want to through that to show the dark side between human.

Than, we having a most important problem in technique. How to show the cat’s move shot in our artifact. It will increase our budget if we use professional machine. We remember the fly. If we use animation to show the complex animal move shot it will solve the problem. Lisa in our group is good at produce animation. She made great animation last term.

 

How to explain the human’s dark side though the cat. Russian famous writer Chekhov’s article named Chameleon give us the ideas. We want to prepare a story about a rich’s missing cat and the human it met on the way. The story is split between lost the cat, seek the cat and recovered the cat. We can’t reveal specific drama now. I just can tell you our film have 5 scene and very brilliant.

 

 

 

 

 

 

At last, In our project we will control our final budget no more than 1000 pound. It including buy items, pay for actors and rent place.
